Maria Parasyri: Veterinarian and owner of the clinic

After many years of working as an employed veterinarian for various practices (from small to large, secondary practices, mixed practices, the faculty of Utrecht, emergency clinics, etc.), the time has come for me to start my own veterinary clinic.

A dream of many years that I could not have realized without all the people who helped me. I am very grateful to them

From a young age I knew I wanted to be a veterinarian. A wonderful profession that is more of a calling than a job for me: a way of life.

I now proudly present my own veterinary practice and staff, without my employees there would be no practice.

Over the years I have specialized in surgery, oncology, oncological surgery and orthopedics

I am committed to providing your pet with the best possible care using all my knowledge, skills and experience.

See you at the practice,

Maria

Myrthe: Assistant / Veterinary Nurse

Let me introduce myself:

My name is Myrthe, I’m 22 years old and recently graduated as a veterinary nurse. Animals have always played a big role in my life – I grew up surrounded by dogs and have always been a true animal lover. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my own dogs or going for a ride on my motorcycle.

For those who already know me: I previously completed an internship at this practice with great pleasure. That’s why I’m so happy to now join the team as a veterinary nurse!

I look forward to meeting you and your loyal four-legged friend (again) at the clinic!

Joke: Assistant / Veterinary Nurse

My name is Joke Ackermans.

I've been working as a veterinary nurse for a few years now.

In the past, I’ve already worked with Maria. I see it as a great opportunity to join and support the team.

I grew up on a farm and have always wanted to work with animals. It all started 17 years ago when I became a dog groomer.

Over time, I became more and more interested in animal health and behavior – not just in dogs, but in other species too. That’s why, five years ago, I decided to take the next step and become a veterinary nurse so I could help even more animals.

I live with my partner in Berg en Terblijt. Together, we have three dogs, a cat, and a whole bunch of feathered friends – from canaries and chickens to two emus.

Jeddae Martens: Assistant / All-round Staff Member

From a very young age, I knew that working with animals was my calling. I am currently training to become a veterinary assistant and have the opportunity to work at De Dikke Kater Animal Clinic, where I learn from these passionate professionals every day.

My strong desire to help animals and my deep interest in their nature continue to motivate me to further develop myself in this field. After completing my studies as an assistant, I hope to make my dream of becoming a veterinarian a reality.

In addition to my passion for this profession, I enjoy spending my time making music and staying physically active.

See you at the clinic!

Joëlle Courtens: Assistant / Veterinary nurse

My name is Joëlle, I am 30 years old and I graduated as a veterinary nurse in 2015. Since 2017, I have been working in this profession and have been able to further develop my passion and love for the field. From a young age, I was always surrounded by animals. I grew up with dogs and cats and today I am the proud owner of four cats. My cats mean the world to me.

I am very much looking forward to joining this wonderful team and working together to give your pets the best possible care!

Seline Sturmans: Veterinarian

Hello! My name is Seline — a veterinarian through and through, and soon to be part of the “Dikke Kater” team. I’m really looking forward to it!

I have experience in both first- and second-line veterinary medicine. My main interests lie in internal medicine, endocrinology, and oncology.

With an empathetic approach and a listening ear, I will be there to help you and your animals with care and dedication.

In my free time, I love spending time with my family. Together with my husband, I have two wonderful children — one 4 months old and one 3.5 years old — and two affectionate cats, Pip and Loentje.

I have also been creative all my life; for the past three years, I have been studying painting at the art academy.

See you soon at the practice!

Thijs: Veterinarian

My name is Thijs, and I will be joining the practice in March. Veterinary medicine has been part of my life from an early age—it was instilled in me from childhood.

As a young boy, I already helped my father in the practice, so it was only natural that I went on to study veterinary medicine. I graduated in 2018, and after spending some time working in the central part of the country, my wife (who is also a veterinarian) and I settled in central Limburg, where my roots lie, together with our two daughters, Ida and Ellis. Our family is completed by our cats Phoebe and Joey, and our dogs Skoll and Funs. In my free time, I enjoy staying active and playing water polo, and I also spend a lot of time in nature.

Within veterinary medicine, my main interests are surgery and orthopedics. I enjoy thinking along with you to find the best possible solution - for both animal and owner.

I look forward to meeting you in the consultation room!

Franka: receptionist

Hello, my name is Franka and starting in March 2026 I will be joining this wonderful team as a receptionist.

My passion for animals began when I was very young.

At home, we have always had many animals, including chickens, geese, rabbits, dogs, and horses. In my free time, I love being outdoors.

My husband and I enjoy going for walks with our dogs, and horse riding is still my greatest passion.

I look forward to meeting you all soon at the practice.

Best regards,

Franka

Ghazale: Assistant / Veterinary Nurse

My name is Ghazale. I have loved animals since I was very young. In my family, too, there has always been a deep affection for animals, which allowed me to develop a very special bond with them early on. Over the years, this love has only grown stronger and ultimately led me to choose veterinary medicine with all my heart.

From my student years until today — now for more than ten years — I have been working in this wonderful profession. I approach my work every day with great dedication, and contact with animals truly gives me a lot of energy and joy. Seeing animals up close, caring for them, and being able to help them makes my work very special to me.

The most rewarding moment for me is always when I see that an animal is feeling better again. This not only gives me a deep sense of fulfillment but also renews my energy each time to devote myself wholeheartedly to their health and well-being.

I look forward to meeting you and your pet at the practice. 🐾✨
